Academic Advisor - Your academic advisor is the first person to reach out to if you have recently lost a friend or family member. They will serve as your primary point of contact and will act as a liaison in communicating with professors regarding academic and absence concerns. If you are having difficulty reaching a professor or achieving a deadline extension you may need, your academic advisor should be able to help. To find out who your academic advisor is, see Penn's Resources for Student Bereavement page.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) - CAPS offers free and confidential services to all students at Penn. A number of CAPS therapist specialize in grief therapy and have extensive experience working with students who have lost a loved one.
